Don’t have access to a kitchen?
Cooking without an oven?
Trying to cut your cooking costs?
If you only have access to limited cooking equipment we have compiled a list of budget friendly recipes which could help.
This recipe book developed by a nutritionist for Brighton & Hove Food Partnership has recipes, cooking hacks (did you know you could heat soup in a kettle?), healthy eating advice and budget saving tips. All recipes use either a kettle, toaster or microwave. The meals are really varied and easy to substitute so there’s something for everyone.
This blog from a dietitian has over 20 ideas for low cost meals to cook in a small kitchen, either on a microwave, hob or without any cooking required at all. As they require minimal preparation, they won’t take up too much of your time either.
If you’ve got any tips or recipes of your own – let us know!
If you need kitchen equipment why not contact one of Shropshire’s Furniture schemes? There are several in Shropshire. Or contact Shropshire Council Local Support and Prevention Fund (LSPF) which may be able to help with supplying cookware and appliances – including white goods – for vulnerable people facing a crisis. You can contact them on 0345 678 9078.
