Shropshire Christmas Support - Council, Foodbanks, Community Food Projects

The festive period can be a difficult time of year and 2020 will be harder than most. There is lots of support available in our county. Food banks, businesses and community groups will be providing meals and connection over the holidays. Telford and Shropshire councils will also be on hand to deal with any emergencies.

Shropshire Council

Shropshire Council’s Welfare Support Team and Community Reassurance Team will be on hand to support anyone struggling over the Christmas period. Please see timetable below

Telford & Wrekin Council

Telford & Wrekin Council's crisis hotline 01952 380400 operates alongside Telford Crisis Support to provide food parcels and vouchers for gas and electric if you urgently need to pay.

The line will be closed from Wednesday 23rd - Wednesday 30th. You can still apply online whilst the line is closed.

Food Banks

If you are in financial crisis, your local food bank can help with food parcels and often have a wide range of other support. Many people use food banks for the first time at Christmas, so don't worry if you have never used them before. You will be treated with dignity and respect.

See this video of Karen at Shrewsbury Food Bank to find out more about what you can expect.

Find your local food bank here. Get in touch ASAP if you need support over this time as some food banks will be closed over Christmas.

If you need food assistance and your food bank is closed – please see the Shropshire or Telford & Wrekin Council support. If you are in Telford and your food bank is closed call/text Telford Interfaith Council's out of hours hotline 07895 395226 for an emergency food parcel
