Shropshire Council have support available for people who are struggling financially this winter

Shropshire Council has received additional funding through the new Household Support Fund to support people in Shropshire this winter. There will be money to support Shropshire households with fuel costs which will be distributed by Community Resource (formerly RCC) and Marches Energy Agency. There is also extra money for local welfare provision which can be used to support people with a number of things:

  • Food

  • Energy and water

  • Essentials linked to energy and water (e.g. cookers, fridges, freezers, cooking equipment, sanitary products, soap, warm clothing, blankets, boiler service and repair)

  • Wider essentials (e.g. phone bills, broadband, other clothing, school uniform, essential transport-related costs, other essential furniture - this list is not exhaustive)

  • Housing costs- other avenues may need to be explored first, but this may be possible if support if not available from another source.

Shropshire Council are encouraging anyone who is someone is struggling financially to contact them as they may be able to help. You do not need to be in receipt of benefits to apply. You can call the Welfare Support Team on 0345 678 9078 (option 2), and they will take an application over the phone. If you have a trusted person to support you with an application they can do so, with your consent.
